The Complete Guide to Roblox Toys

First and foremost, what is Roblox? This block-style building and collecting video game has been out since September 1, 2006, and had been in development for two years before that – since 2004. Digital collectibles (clothing and accessories for your avatar) have been a Roblox community staple for over a decade. However, the first set of physical Roblox toys came out in February of 2017. This Series 1 was comprised of the following:

  • 24 “mystery box figures”
  • 1 “6-pack assortment”
  • 6 “core figures”
  • 2 “game packs”

Series 1 was groundbreaking in that it signified the release of physical collectibles (Roblox had been selling digital collectibles for many years) to markets that were interested. For those that love the Roblox video game, collecting toys was a natural progression and incredibly rewarding pastime; after all, the Roblox toys are modeled after in-game characters and some of the biggest names in the game!

Roblox Toys and A Note About Collectibles #

As with any collectibles, individual pieces have their own rarity and demand. These factors determine what a collector is willing to buy them for – this is the item’s presumed worth. Additionally, physical Roblox collectibles are still in their infancy – having only been in production for about five years. Like any other collectible, prices will continue to rise over time. For these reasons, we will not be going into details and prices for each toy.

While there are several “super rare” and incredibly expensive digital Roblox items, physical toys tend to be less expensive. There are, however, some rare characters, and their prices fluctuate, depending on supply and demand. Most collectors hold onto their characters, however, and single collectibles rarely enter the marketplace. When they do, they get scooped up fairly quickly.

Much like we’ve seen with Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! collectibles, as the generation that played these games and watched these shows ages into adulthood, collectibles from a game like Roblox in the late 2000s and early 10s will continue to increase in demand. Bearing this in mind, let’s take a look at the collectible toys that have been released so far.

Collecting Each Series of Roblox Toys: Series Timeline #

For collectors, owning each figure from each of the following series is the dream. Spanning five years and offering even more virtual collectibles in each series, Roblox toys have captured the art of collection on a new, playful level. We’ll take a look at how many toys are in each series, the different multi-pack sets, and how each set falls on the timeline.

Unless otherwise specified, each series came with 24 mystery box characters and 8 core characters. Most sets also came with at least two “game packs” with two figures and at least 1 “6-pack” with six figures.

Common Questions About Roblox Toys #

Now that we’ve covered each independent set and some of what you can expect within each, let’s take a look at some commonly asked questions about Roblox toys.

What’s The Difference Between Toys and Roblox Virtual Items? #

Now, the physical Roblox toys do come with virtual codes that can be redeemed in the Roblox game. However, the toys should not be confused with the virtual items themselves. For example, if you purchase an opened box for a toy, it is highly likely that there will not be a redeemable code for that virtual item. Most toys have a specific virtual item that they come with, while other toys have a random virtual item attached to them. Virtual collectors may need to purchase multiple physical toys, then, to receive every virtual collectible.

Roblox Toys Come With Redeemable Codes: How Does That Work? #

As mentioned above, each toy comes with a redeemable code. In order to redeem your Roblox virtual item, you must first scratch off the silver coating to reveal the item’s code. Once you have your code, head to the Roblox website to redeem and claim your item. Roblox has created this guide to help those who need to redeem codes. Once a code has been redeemed and claimed, it cannot be used again on another account.

Why Are Some Toys So Expensive? #

As we discussed in a section above, collectibles will always fluctuate in price. However, toys for which a small number of copies were made will always be more expensive. This is a result of simple supply and demand economics. In the collectible world, an item’s worth is defined only by what someone is willing to pay for it.

How Is the Quality of the Roblox Toys? #

With the exception of known production issues, Roblox toys are very well made. Quality assurance for these toys is outstanding, and very few complaints have been made. Since this collectible series is in its infancy, there doesn’t seem to be any grading system yet; however, don’t rule it out as the toys begin to age. Furthermore, bear in mind that toys in their unopened, original packaging will always retain their value much better than those that have been opened and displayed.
